Do extensions damage the natural lashes?
Lash extensions should never cause damage as long as they are applied correctly. Please ensure you research your tech before committing to a treatment with them. Extensions should never be uncomfortable or painful and you should not even know you are wearing them. Safety over and above everything else is priority here as Lash by Lash.
Can I remove the extensions myself?
It is highly recommended that you return to your tech to have your extensions removed professionally. Trying to remove them yourself could cause irreversible damage to the natural lash.
What are extensions made of?
You may have heard the terms silk or mink lashes being used. The truth is that ALL synthetic extensions are made from a product called polybutylene terephthalate or PBT for short. It is the same plastic material that your toothbrush is made of. Lash curls are formed using heat which is why they do not like being exposed to extreme heat once applied, they will lose their curl.
How long do extensions last?
This is difficult to answer simply because there are many variable factors that contribute to the retention of extensions. It depends on how well they are looked after by the client after application, following aftercare instructions is important. It also depends on the clients health, lash cycle and skin condition, for example some medications will interfere with retention and those who suffer with oily skin or hair will likely experience a faster loss of lashes than normal.
Usually lashes will need to be infilled within 3 weeks of application to keep them looking full.
Will it hurt?
No! When properly applied, lash extensions should NEVER hurt! Extensions are applied to your natural lashes, not touching the skin, so you shouldn’t feel a thing. With your eyes closed, you may even find the treatment so relaxing that you fall asleep! You wouldn’t be the first… I call this a lash nap.
Will extensions pull out my natural lashes?
It is commonly misunderstood that extensions pull out your own natural lashes. The truth is that your natural lashes grow and shed constantly. The general lifespan of a natural lash is 9-12 weeks. Once a natural lash has reached the final stage of growth it is pushed out by a new lash growing underneath, that lash will then exfoliate with the extension attached to it. The only time your natural lashes will be pulled out by extensions is if they are not applied correctly and isolated properly.
